A Happy Day
I represented a good, hardworking young man, about 24, recently. A few weeks ago on a Thursday, we appeared in court and reached a very satisfactory result, and we agreed with the Judge to appear the next morning to conclude the case. I hugged him to congratulate him. We were both very happy.
That night he died in a terrible accident. Friday morning I was told this sad news, and I had to go to court and tell the Judge. I was at the bench when I told him, and the courtroom went silent.
You never know how long you have to live, a decade or a moment. You should squeeze all you can out of the time you have.
