Russell’s Summer Reading List

Here’s my reading list for this summer…so far.

summer reading D.O.D.O.The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.: A Novel by Neal Stevenson and Nicole Garland
Just published, this is a new book perfectly timed for your summer reading list. It’s worth reading, especially on a lazy summer afternoon, but it won’t be the best book you’ll read this year. If you try it, buy it in audio form. That way you can speed up the reading.

summer reading SevenevesSeveneves, Neal Stevenson’s previous book, was on our summer reading list last year and we loved it. It is science fiction–really three books in one–that you shouldn’t miss. It’s fast, exciting and invigorating. It was on Bill Gates’ summer book list last year, too.

I’m reading the next two to learn more about places and people that fascinate me: the first is about the country I’ll be visiting in the fall and the second is about the man behind PayPal, Tesla and Space-X:

summer reading: chinasummer reading Elon MuskChina, A History by John Keay

Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance

And, finally:

summer reading FriedmanThank You for Being Late: An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations by Thomas Friedman
It’s full of must-have knowledge–sometimes overwhelming–for anyone who wants to thrive in the next twenty years.

I think it’s important to have at least one really good summer book.

Please post your great summer read over on my Facebook page Russell’s Stories. I’m anxious to hear.
